Our History

1965

Plate & Steel Industries was established by George Braden in Murdoch Street, Clayton specialising in heavy plate fabrication. Plate & Steel Industries gradually moves away from its roots in heavy plate fabrication to plate supply and processing.

1967

George Braden’s son, Graham Braden joined Plate & Steel Industries to help grow the plate processing business to include more Oxy Fuel Electric Trace Profile Cutting machines.

1970

Allthread Industries was established in the 1970s specialising in thread rolled bolts and cast-in products.

1972

Ross Parker (founder of the Sell & Parker Group) realises he can cut steel plate to prescribed shapes electronically without requiring an engineer to make a template. With access to a supply of plate, Ross starts a business called "Oxy Profile Cutting", which is eventually rebranded as "Oxycut".

1977

Sell & Parker buys a site in Amelia Street, Waterloo, where both the scrap metal recycling and profile cutting are co-located.

1979

Plate & Steel Industries relocated to Century Drive, Braeside.

1986

Plate & Steel Industries installs another two Oxy Fuel Multi Head Profile Cutting Machines together with the latest CNC Controllers.

1988

Plate & Steel Industries installs three large Surface Grinding machines to cater for tool making and automotive industries.

1989

Oxycut relocates and expands on a property owned in Yerrick Road, Lakemba.

1995

Oxycut relocates and expands to a 5000 sqm factory on property bought and redeveloped in Long Street, Smithfield.

2002

Oxycut buys a steel profile cutting business Precision Profiling. The businesses are merged to form Precision Oxycut.

2003

Tim Braden joins Plate & Steel Industries, becoming the third generation to take on a role within the business.

2005

  • Sell & Parker acquire a brownfield property at Newcastle and immediately expands Precision Oxycut to this site.
  • Plate & Steel Industries commissioned its first Kinetic CNC Plasma Profile Cutting Machine.

2009

  • Plate & Steel Industries recognises a need within the industry, and diversifies to include CNC Press Brake capability.
  • Plate & Steel Industries commissioned another Kinetic K4000 Combination Plasma Cutting, Milling & Drilling Machine enabling it to offer drilling, tapping, countersinking, counterboring and contour bevelling.

2012

  • From 2012 to 2016 Allthread Industries supplied Bechtel direct with the Embed Package for mainland Production Facilities.
  • Plate & Steel Industries installs large capacity Plate Rolls to further expand the business’s Plate Forming capacity.

2013

Precision Oxycut commissioned and installed its first Kinetic 4000 in Newcastle, allowing them to offer drilling, tapping, countersinking, counterboring and contour bevelling.

2014

Precision Oxycut commissioned another Kinetic 4000, installing it at its Smithfield site.

2016

  • Allthread Industries acquired First Forge Australia Pty Ltd, which is a specialised importer of high-quality engineered fasteners from Europe, Korea and the USA. First Forge Australia is partnered with the Vescovini Group, which is among the industry leaders in Europe for sales of premium fasteners.
  • Precision Oxycut commissioned and installed a Kinetic 5000 at its Smithfield site.

2019

  • The Sell and Parker Group acquired Allthread Industries and First Forge Australia Pty Ltd. As the Sell & Parker Group also owns Precision Oxycut, a specialist steel plate processor, Allthread Industries can now offer complete solutions of bolts and plates, all manufactured in-house, in Australia.
  • Precision Oxycut commissions the latest Kinetic 5200 which started production mid-January. Install and commission of Precision Oxycut’s first Laser cutter was installed mid February.

2020

  • Precision Oxycut added a KiHeung RiGiTRAX CNC machine and Yawei laser cutter (the largest in Australia) to its site in Smithfield.
  • From 2020 – 2021, Allthread Industries provided 38 wind turbine anchor cages for Stage Two of the Murra Warra Wind Farm, a project that will play a key role in Australia’s renewable energy future.
  • Allthread Industries also supplies Bango Wind Farm.

2022

  • Allthread Industries signs a contract for the largest wind farm in Australia.
  • The Sell & Parker Group acquires Plate & Steel Industries. As the Sell & Parker Group also owns Precision Oxycut, Allthread Industries, and First Forge Australia, Plate & Steel Industries can now offer complete solutions for projects 100% manufactured in-house in Australia.

2023

APAC Insider awarded Allthread Industries as the Leading Bolt Solution Manufacturer for the Australian Enterprise Awards 2023.

2026

Precision Oxycut, Allthread Industries, First Forge Australia, and Plate & Steel Industries are all rebranded under the Loross banner.
